LIFE IN THE LIGHT / COOKIES

Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Life in the Light uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, why they may be needed, and how you can manage your preferences.

Draft for review · Not yet legally approved.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites can place on your computer, phone, or other device when you visit them.

They help websites remember information between pages or visits, such as language preferences, privacy choices, or other settings.

Cookies may be temporary, lasting only for your browsing session, or persistent, remaining on your device for a defined period.

Some cookies are placed directly by the website you visit, while others may be placed by third-party services.

2. Why Do We Use Cookies?

Life in the Light may use cookies and similar technologies to support the operation of our website, remember visitor preferences, and provide a consistent browsing experience.

Depending on the website features available, these technologies may help us:

  • Maintain essential website functionality.
  • Remember your selected language.
  • Remember your cookie and privacy preferences.
  • Protect website forms and services from misuse.
  • Support additional website features where they are enabled.

We aim to provide visitors with clear information and appropriate choices regarding nonessential technologies.

3. Types of Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies and related browser storage can serve different purposes.

Strictly Necessary Technologies

These support functions that are essential for website operation or for providing a service explicitly requested by a visitor.

They may include technologies required for technical operation, security, and saving applicable privacy choices.

Strictly necessary technologies do not require consent where the relevant legal exemption applies.

Preference Technologies

These may remember visitor choices, such as a selected website language or display preferences.

Whether consent is required depends on the purpose and how the technology is used.

Analytics Technologies

Analytics technologies can help website operators understand how visitors use their websites.

If Life in the Light introduces optional analytics technologies, the relevant details will be disclosed and consent obtained where required before those technologies are activated.

Third-Party Technologies

Some website features may use external services, such as video players, maps, or form security tools.

Our missionary school application and prayer request forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that they are being completed by a person. Turnstile loads only on pages with these forms and only after you start using one. It is not used for tracking or advertising. Because the check is needed to deliver the form you have chosen to send, it is treated as strictly necessary and does not require consent.

Where these technologies require consent, the relevant service must not be activated before the appropriate choice has been made.

In the current website configuration, analytics, advertising, embedded video/maps, online payment processing and Google reCAPTCHA are not active. Tally external forms are supported but are not currently configured. No optional technology category is currently active. The categories above also describe possible future features; they are not all currently used.

4. Cookies and Storage Used by Our Website

Below you can find information about the cookies and similar browser storage technologies currently used by this website.

The information identifies their purpose, provider, and duration where applicable.

Draft inventory: the entry below was verified in the current website preview’s HTTP responses. The production website and full browser storage inventory still need verification.

The consent controls are implemented to save privacy choices in first-party local storage after you save them. Their stored record is treated as valid for 180 days; this does not automatically delete it. Browser persistence and production verification of this storage are pending, so it is not listed as a verified deployed entry above.

5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can manage your available cookie preferences through the privacy controls on our website.

Where optional technologies require consent, you can choose whether to allow them.

You may also change or withdraw your consent at any time.

Strictly necessary technologies may remain active because they are required for essential functionality or services you have explicitly requested.

Saving or rejecting optional choices uses the existing website controls. Scrolling, closing the dialog or continuing to browse does not grant consent. When external forms are configured, withdrawing permission removes their embeds for future use; it cannot undo an earlier submission or erase storage controlled by another website.

6. Your Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their settings.

You can generally control these settings for individual websites or across your browser.

Deleting cookies or blocking certain technologies may cause some preferences to be forgotten or affect how particular website features work.

Browser controls may also affect other forms of website storage, depending on the browser and its settings.

7. Third-Party Services

Our website may link to external websites and services operated by other organizations.

When you visit an external website, that provider's own cookie and privacy policies may apply.

Our Watch Online pages show videos from YouTube, which is operated by Google, using its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). The player loads when you open one of these pages. Once it has loaded, and in particular when you play a video, YouTube may store or read information on your device, such as cookies or local storage, for playback, settings and security. This happens under Google's own policies. You can delete information YouTube has stored through your browser settings.

If we introduce embedded content or additional third-party services that place cookies or use similar technologies, we will review the relevant disclosures and consent requirements.

For further information about how we handle personal information, please read our Privacy Policy.

8. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when our website changes, new technologies are introduced, or applicable requirements change.

Updated information will be published on this page.

We encourage visitors to review this policy periodically.

If you have questions about this Cookie Policy or the technologies used by our website, please contact us.
